Genesis unveiled the GV80 Coupe Concept at an exclusive Genesis House New York event. The four-passenger concept car adds a new facet to the Genesis brand, showcasing its potential for more emotional and performance-oriented models.
The GV80 Coupe Concept is inspired by the X Speedium Coupe Concept that debuted in New York last year. It combines the practicality of a lifestyle-oriented SUV with the dynamism of a sports car. It is a statement of intent for Genesis’ future programs and a preview of its design philosophy.
The design philosophy of Genesis is based on the duality of Athletic and Elegance. The Genesis GV80 Coupe Concept embodies this duality by balancing muscular proportions with refined details. The front fascia features the signature Double G-Matrix Patterned Crest Grille and the quad lights, which have evolved from multi-lens array technology to seamless light performance. The rear fascia echoes the same pattern and light motif, creating a harmonious and distinctive identity.
The GV80 Coupe Concept’s performance is optimized by its rear-wheel-drive platform, which provides a long hood and generous dash-to-axle proportions. The anti-wedge parabolic line accentuates the sleek profile, while the muscular blisters and fenders contrast with the smooth surfaces. The concept car also features four slots within the bumper that reduce shadowed thermal flow and improve cooling efficiency.
