The Mercedes-AMG GT Coupé is not just a pretty face. It is a powerful, sophisticated supercar that combines performance, luxury, and innovation in a sleek and elegant package. The new model represents the top of the AMG GT portfolio, offering a range of enhancements and features that make it stand out from the crowd.
What’s new for the Mercedes-AMG GT Coupé?
The Mercedes-AMG GT Coupé is the second generation of the AMG GT supercar, which debuted in 2014 as a two-seater with a long hood and a muscular rear. The new model, however, is more of a grand tourer, with four seats (optionally), a larger trunk, and a more refined and comfortable interior. The new model is also longer, taller, and narrower than its predecessor, making it more spacious and easier to maneuver.
The new AMG GT Coupé also features a new chassis architecture, shared with the new SL roadster but developed independently by AMG. The new chassis is stiffer, lighter, and more agile, allowing the AMG GT Coupé to deliver a more fluent and capable driving experience. The new model also has a new adaptive suspension system, an electronic limited-slip differential, and a new Race mode for the most dynamic driving settings.
The new AMG GT Coupé engine is the familiar 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, handcrafted by AMG, but with two different power outputs. The base model, the Mercedes-AMG GT 55, produces 469 hp and 494 lb-ft of torque, while the more powerful AMG GT 63 delivers 577 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. Both models are paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system and can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.7 and 3.2 seconds, respectively. The top speed of the AMG GT 55 is 194 mph, while the AMG GT 63 can reach 198 mph.
The new AMG GT Coupé also offers a range of new features and options, such as a lithium-ion starter battery, a Stealth Edition with blacked-out elements, a Burmester sound system, ventilated seats, wireless charging, and an 11.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The new model also comes with a host of driver-assistance features, such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot assist, and emergency braking.
