Honda has proven once again that it is a force to be reckoned with in the automotive industry, as it posted robust sales results for November 2021 and earned top honors for residual value from ALG. The Japanese brand outperformed its competitors in both mainstream and luxury segments thanks to its strong lineup of cars, crossovers, SUVs, and electrified vehicles.
Honda Sales Up 17.1% in November
According to the latest report from American Honda, the company sold 85,055 vehicles in November 2021, a 17.1% increase from the same month last year. This impressive figure was driven by the high demand for Honda’s crossovers, which accounted for 54,626 units, a 13% increase from November 2020.
The Honda HR-V was the star performer, as it set its 10th consecutive monthly sales record and established a new annual sales record in just 11 months. The subcompact crossover sold 9,062 units in November 2021, a whopping 68.9% increase from the same month last year.
The Honda CR-V was not far behind, as it topped 20,000 units with record hybrid sales. The compact crossover sold 20,163 units in November 2021, a 9.8% increase from the same month last year. The CR-V Hybrid sold 3,019 units, a 28.7% increase from the same month last year.
The Honda Ridgeline also posted its best November in five years, as it sold 2,636 units, a 4.4% increase from the same month last year. The midsize pickup truck benefited from the refreshed 2021 model, which features a more rugged exterior design and improved performance.
Honda’s electrified vehicles also set a new November record and are on pace to surpass 100,000 units for the year. The company sold 6,713 electrified vehicles in November, a 16.9% increase from the same month last year. The Honda Insight, Accord Hybrid, and Honda Clarity Plug-in Hybrid all contributed to this growth.
The only downside for Honda was the limited supply of the all-new Civic, which prevented the compact car from reaching its full sales potential. The Honda Civic sold 14,472 units in November, a 23.8% decrease from the same month last year. However, the demand for the Civic remains extremely high, as it has a very low inventory level and a short days-to-turn ratio.
