Whether you are looking for a family-friendly vehicle, an adventure-ready machine, or a fuel-efficient hybrid, the RAV4 has something for everyone.
In this article, I will review the features, specs, and prices of the 2024 Toyota RAV4 and compare it with some of its main competitors. I will also share my opinion on why the RAV4 is one of the best choices in its segment and why you should consider buying one if you are in the market for a new compact SUV.
What’s New for 2024?
The 2024 Toyota RAV4 does not have any major changes from the previous model year, as it is still part of the fifth generation that debuted in 2019. However, some minor updates and enhancements make the RAV4 even more appealing and attractive.
First of all, there is a new color option available for the 2024 RAV4: Wildfire Red. This vibrant and eye-catching hue adds some flair and personality to the RAV4’s exterior and is sure to turn some heads on the road. The Wildfire Red color is available on all trim levels except for the TRD Off-Road.
Secondly, some new features are added to the standard equipment list of the 2024 RAV4. These include LED fog lights, heated front seats, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. These features enhance the safety, comfort, and convenience of the RAV4 and make it more competitive with other compact SUVs in its class.
Thirdly, there are some minor price adjustments for the 2024 RAV4. The base LE trim starts at $28,650, which is a $900 increase from the previous model year. The other trim levels also see similar price bumps, ranging from $200 to $900. However, considering the added features and value that the 2024 RAV4 offers, these price increases are reasonable and justified.
What Are the Trim Levels and Powertrain Options?
The 2024 Toyota RAV4 is offered in six trim levels: LE, XLE, XLE Premium, Adventure, TRD Off-Road, and Limited. All come with a 203-horsepower four-cylinder engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The LE and XLE trims come standard with front-wheel drive, while the other trims come standard with all-wheel drive. The Adventure and TRD Off-Road trims also feature a more advanced Dynamic Torque Vectoring AWD system that can distribute torque to individual wheels for better traction and handling.
In addition to the gas-powered models, there are also four hybrid variants of the 2024 Toyota RAV4: LE Hybrid, XLE Hybrid, XSE Hybrid, and Limited Hybrid. These models come with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and an electric motor that produce a combined output of 219 horsepower. They also have an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission (eCVT) and a standard all-wheel-drive system that uses a separate electric motor to power the rear wheels. The hybrid models offer superior fuel economy than the gas models, with an EPA-estimated rating of 40 mpg combined.
Finally, there is also a plug-in hybrid variant of the 2024 Toyota RAV4: the RAV4 Prime. This model has a similar powertrain as the hybrid models but with a larger battery pack that allows it to run on electric power alone for up to 42 miles. The RAV4 Prime also has more power than any other RAV4 model, with a total system output of 302 horsepower. This makes it one of the quickest compact SUVs on the market, capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.7 seconds. The RAV4 Prime also has an impressive fuel economy rating of 38 mpg combined when running on gas only.
