The Skoda Scala is a compact hatchback that competes with the likes of the Volkswagen Golf, Ford Focus, and Hyundai i30. It was launched in 2019 as a replacement for the Skoda Rapid, and now it has received a mid-cycle update for the 2024 model year. The refreshed Scala boasts a new design, improved technology, and more efficient engines. Here's what you need to know about the 2024 Skoda Scala.
New Look and Lights
The most noticeable change on the new Skoda Scala is the front end, which features slimmer headlights with a new shape and optional matrix LED technology. The matrix LED headlights can adjust the light beam according to the traffic situation, providing better visibility and safety. The grille has also been redesigned, along with the bumpers and the tail lights. The Scala now sports the latest corporate font for the tailgate lettering and new alloy wheel designs with aero inserts. Some wheels have silver or black accents, ranging from 15 to 18 inches in size.
The 2024 Skoda Scala is available in nine exterior colors, including a new Steel Grey option that is exclusive to the hatchback. The Scala also offers an optional extended rear window with black glass, which gives it a distinctive look. The rear window can be opened separately from the tailgate, making it easier to access the cargo area.
More Eco-Friendly Interior
Inside, the new Skoda Scala has received some subtle updates as well. The most obvious one is the new panel for automatic climate control, which is more intuitive than before. The Scala also uses more recycled materials for the upholstery, mats, and flooring, as well as renewable materials such as hemp and kenaf for the door cards and a section of the headliner. These materials help reduce the environmental impact of the car, as well as enhance its comfort and quality.
The 2024 Skoda Scala comes with an eight-inch driver’s display as standard, but it can be upgraded to a 10.25-inch setup. Depending on the trim level, the infotainment system can be either an eight-inch or a 9.2-inch touchscreen. The system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and online services such as navigation, traffic information, weather updates, and remote access via a smartphone app. The Scala also features wireless charging, USB-C ports, ambient lighting, and a sound system by Beats.
The top-of-the-line Monte Carlo models get some sporty touches inside, such as integrated headrests for the front seats that provide greater lateral support, a flat-bottomed steering wheel, aluminum pedals, and black roof lining.
