Skoda has recently launched the upgraded versions of its Scala and Kamiq models, two of the most successful and acclaimed products in the brand’s history. The new Scala and Kamiq offer a fresh design, new equipment features and assistant systems, and a focus on sustainability. They are produced at Skoda’s main plant in Mladá Boleslav, Czech Republic, and sold in more than 60 markets worldwide. In this article, we will take a closer look at what makes these cars stand out in the compact class.
Design: Sporty and Rugged
The new Skoda Scala and Skoda Kamiq have undergone a major makeover that enhances their distinctiveness and appeal. The front and rear bumpers, rims and radiator grilles have been revamped, giving the cars a more dynamic and modern look. The Scala now has a sportier appearance, while the Kamiq has become a more rugged SUV. Both models also feature the new Matrix-LED headlights, which provide better visibility and safety. The fifth door of both cars proudly displays the new Skoda logotype, reflecting the brand’s new design language.
Equipment: Exclusive and Eco-Friendly
The new Scala and Kamiq are equipped with new features and assistant systems that are usually exclusive to higher vehicle classes. For example, both models offer the Travel Assist, which combines adaptive cruise control, lane assist and traffic sign recognition to provide a semi-automated driving experience. They also have the Virtual Cockpit, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster that can be customized according to the driver’s preferences. The infotainment system has been upgraded to the latest MIB 3 generation, which supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and online services such as navigation, weather and news.
Additionally, the new Scala and Kamiq have substantially increased the use of sustainable materials in various parts of the vehicles, such as upholstery and floor mats. For instance, the Eco Seats are made of recycled PET bottles and wool, while the Eco Mats are made of recycled fishing nets and plastic waste. These materials not only reduce the environmental impact of the cars, but also provide a high level of comfort and quality.
