If you’re looking for an electric SUV that can take you on long road trips without worrying about range anxiety, you might want to check out the Volkswagen ID.7. This is the latest addition to VW’s growing family of ID models, which aims to make electric mobility accessible and affordable for everyone.
The ID.7 is build on the same modular electric platform (MEB) as the Volkswagen ID.3 hatchback and the Volkswagen ID.4 crossover, but it offers more space, power, and range than its siblings. It’s also the first VW model to feature a new generation of batteries that can store more energy and charge faster than before.
According to VW, the ID.7 can travel up to 700 km (435 miles) on a single charge, depending on the battery size and driving style. That’s more than enough for most daily commutes and weekend getaways, but if you need to top up along the way, you can do so in a matter of minutes. The ID.7 supports fast charging up to 170 kW, which means it can regain up to 320 km (199 miles) of range in just 18 minutes.
The Volkswagen ID.7 also boasts impressive performance figures, thanks to its dual-motor all-wheel-drive system that delivers a combined output of 335 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. It can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 180 km/h (112 mph).
But the Volkswagen ID.7 is not just about speed and range; it’s also about comfort and convenience. The interior is spacious and airy, with plenty of room for five passengers and their luggage. The dashboard is minimalist and futuristic, with a large touchscreen infotainment system and a head-up display that projects key information onto the windshield. The ID.7 also comes with a host of advanced driver-assistance systems, such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.
